The photographer's storage dilemma

Every event produces gigabytes of original photos. Keeping them online means storage cost; deleting them means destroying the source of future print orders and re-delivery requests. The photographer is stuck in the middle of this dilemma.

Facerog's Google Drive sync offers a third path: an event's originals move to your own Google Drive while the previews stay in Facerog. Storage on the Facerog side is freed, your photos sit in a space entirely under your control — and the event keeps working.

With classic archiving the data goes to cold storage: recalling it takes hours, costs extra, and the event is unusable meanwhile. Drive sync does not work that way.

Because previews stay in Facerog, the gallery, face matching and sharing keep running without interruption. When an attendee wants to download a photo or watch their video, the original is fetched back from your Drive automatically — nobody has to file a request and you don't have to lift a finger.

Fetched originals stay hot in Facerog for 7 days, so downloading the same photo again is instant. Once that window passes they are quietly released back to Drive.

How it works

You connect your Google account once. When you start the sync after the event's end date, Facerog copies the original photos to your Drive one by one — it does not zip them. So you actually see your photos in Drive, organized under a 'Facerog' folder into clear subfolders with language-appropriate names.

The order matters: ALL files are copied to Drive and verified first, and only then are the originals removed from Facerog. So even if the transfer is interrupted there's no data loss — it resumes where it left off. Thumbnail previews are never deleted.

Beyond the automatic per-file fetch, you can also bring an entire event back to Facerog with one click. With cold-storage solutions recalling an event takes hours and costs money; here the data is already in your Drive, so it takes minutes and is free.

When a print order or a bulk re-delivery request comes in, you bring the event back quickly, finish the job, and sync it to Drive again if you like.

You own your data

Keeping your photos in your own Google Drive means storing them on infrastructure you control. That gives you both a long-term backup and peace of mind: years of retroactive access without inflating your storage plan on the platform.

Being in control also means being responsible: once the sync finishes, the originals live only in your Drive, so be careful not to delete the 'Facerog' folder there.
